Hello

My name is Sasha and I started Foolish Food in 2018 when I first realized the importance of sustainability and the issue of food waste. Through this journey, I have been able to collaborate with different organizations and politicians to uplift voices and speak more about this issue and the different intersectionalities within it.

My Story

After a week-long trip to southern Arizona, I realized the importance of sustainability, especially being in the middle of a desert where resources are very limited. It is vital that energy, food, water, and other resources are conserved.

I decided to start Foolish Food, and through the organization, I have been able to reach hundreds of students across the country and help them understand how to combat food waste in their communities. I was also able to help pass a bill in my home state of Massachusetts that gave a tax incentive to food providers like restaurants and grocery stores who donated their uneaten food to food receivers like food banks and panties.

After our relaunch in the summer of 2021, I worked with the Werth Institute at the University of Connecticut to receive a network and resources on how to go about the next steps of making this mission successful. Through the Werth Institute, I was surrounded by students who were passionate about entrepreneurship and also had interests within sustainability as well.
